Snellemark Shopping Centre

A good neighbour is always ready to help out – whether you need a cup of sugar, a couple of painkillers or a helping hand. Snellemark Centret in Rønne is just such a neighbour. It is a good neighbour for the ferry service, for instance. It is situated just around the corner from the ferry berth, making it convenient for travellers to stop by.

Snellemark Centret is a pleasant shopping centre where you can shop without getting out of breath. Right inside the main entrance is the bakery, adjacent to Kvickly, Denmark’s oldest cooperative supermarket chain. On the first floor of the centre there are several shops, which together meet the needs of most families on Bornholm. There is the ‘Name It’ clothing shop, featuring fashionwear for children and teenagers, ‘Matas’ with everything from perfumes and sunscreen to over-the-counter medicine, opposite the ‘Kids Coolshop’ toy shop with a profusion of tempting items for kids and the young at heart. The first floor also has a large H&M shop and locally renowned ‘Snoir’, both of which sell famous clothing brands for all age groups. The ironmonger’s, Bornholms Isenkram, recently moved into the local residents’ favourite shopping centre, and abounds with utility items for the kitchen and elsewhere in the home. After you’ve done your shopping, Caffé Mamma on the first floor serves family-friendly food and offers fine views of the harbour area. Snellemark Centret also includes the red building to the right of the main entrance where you can find Sol & Strand, which rents out holiday homes.

Snellemark Centret has almost everything you need for a pleasant evening with the family, gifts for special occasions, a stay at a summer house, or for pampering yourself with clothing or new interior design items. Visit Snellemark Centret at Snellemark 17 in Rønne to experience Bornholm’s shopping centre for the whole family. The shopping centre has plenty of parking spaces with two hours of free parking, which should be plenty of time for most people to shop at one or more of the nine different shops where all customers are served with the warmth and friendliness that Bornholm is renowned for.

Where the locals do their shopping

Its size notwithstanding, Snellemark Centret is crucial for a local community such as Bornholm. Although its magnitude cannot measure up to Fields in Copenhagen, for instance, Snellemark Centret has everything a family needs on Bornholm. It is neither too big nor too small, but just right. Many local islanders shop here because they can get everything they need under one roof. The shopping centre is ideal for quick daily purchases, for more relaxed shopping at the weekends, and for travellers who just want to browse a little on their way to or from the ferry.

Connecting harbour and town

Snellemark Centret opened its doors for the first time in 1994, to create harmony and interconnection between the busy port and the calm town centre. For thirty years, the shopping centre has lived up to its role as the link connecting Rønne’s two separate urban cultures: the continuously developing port and the historic town with its cobbled streets and charming, half-timbered houses. Some even think that Snellemark Centret is worth visiting even if you’re not short of anything, but just want to browse the shops and hear the Bornholm dialect being spoken.
