William Dam Living can be found in Poulsker, about 3 kilometres west of Snogebæk. The two historic buildings, which previously housed the local Poulsker Brugs grocery shop and Poulsker’s rural school, are the setting for Pernille Dam Povlsen and Peter Povlsen’s tasteful interior design shop, emanating a homey, relaxing atmosphere. Pernille has carefully selected all the products to include items she would love to surround herself with in her own home and everyday activities.
In the meticulously refurbished building, you will find just the right soft blanket to snuggle into on a cold autumn day, your favourite cup for your first cup of coffee in the morning, or a lovely bedspread to liven up your bedroom. You can also find your favourite pair of sandals for summery weather and a variety of evocative items for your garden, such as wicker baskets for patio plants or a rustic outdoor fireplace that will radiate its cosy atmosphere on a late summer’s evening as the stars come out. And if you’re on the lookout for a unique new Christmas decoration, you’ll find it in Pakhuset next door, in the charming Yuletide Cellar (julekælder) open all year round. William Dam Living has everything to make your home a personal oasis: interior design of high quality reflecting an inviting blend of elegant Nordic design and authentic Danish hygge.
If you need a break, enter the adjoining Café Ø through a door in the shop. The café is owned by the couple’s good friend Jane Sørensen, who has created a space to get away from everyday activities where you can relax and enjoy a delicious, well-prepared lunch or just a good cup of coffee served with home-baked pastry. Afterwards, you can cross the courtyard to visit Galleri Dam.
The first time Peter and Pernille saw the premises in Poulsker, they knew something new and unique should emerge here. They bought the buildings and began pursuing their dream of an interior design shop in earnest. Peter has been in charge of the refurbishment and Pernille has carefully selected the many items for the shop. Interior design and hospitality frequently go hand in hand, which is why Jane developed the café with four delightful bedrooms above that are available for rent in peak season. This means you can get up to a delicious breakfast, followed by a morning dip at Dueodde Beach only a few kilometres away.
In Pakhuset next door to William Dam Living is Galleri Dam, where Pernille’s father, Mogens Dam, exhibits his works. Mogens Dam’s evocative pictures embody the colours of nature because he is inspired by the scenic wilderness he has experienced on trips to Svalbard in Norway and to Greenland – and obviously on the island of his birthplace, Bornholm, too. If you’re exhilarated by the colours on Bornholm, it will be difficult to leave Galleri Dam without being captivated by a painting or two.
