William Dam’s Bookstore first opened in 1857, and was taken over by William Dam in 1933. Since then, the bookstore has remained in the family through three generations.
Whether you are an avid reader, shopping for a gift or just want to explore the cornucopia of literature and magazines, or browse the interior design section of the store, William Dam’s gets our warmest recommandations.
The staff at Williams Dam’s Bookstore is known for their vast literary knowledge, and for taking the time necessary to properly attend to each individual customer. They offer personal recommendations and good customer service, and always greet you with a smile. The bookstore has a lovely ambiance and should you drop by on a Saturday, chances are you will be met by live jazz and find it hard to resist sinking into one of the beautiful leather chairs and enjoying the music.
William Dam’s Bookstore often arranges special author events and lectures, and their passion for books and the literary world genuinely permeates the business. Pernille and Peter Dam Povlsen have managed to strike the perfect balance between continuously renewing the experience of visiting the store and simultaneously maintaining the history and identity of one of Denmark’s oldest book stores. However, it may yet prove difficult to choose a book in the store – there is simply so much to choose from!
